Her Interview
Ten minutes with Ashley
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to faith, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to service. Every step of my journey has been shaped by mentors, students, and women pioneers whose courage opened doors for others to follow. I believe in showing up with integrity, leading with purpose, and continuously growing so I can create opportunities for the communities I serve. My success is fueled by gratitude, resilience, and the belief that transforming education transforms lives.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to lead with purpose and stay rooted in who I am. I was taught that titles, opportunities, and recognition will come and go, but who you choose to be in every room is what builds a lasting legacy. I learned early on to keep learning, stay curious, and never dim my light to make others comfortable. When you commit to growth, service, and authenticity, the right doors open, and the right people walk through them with you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To every young woman stepping into education, leadership, or innovation: trust that your voice is needed. This field thrives when women bring their full brilliance, cultural insight, and creativity into the work. Don’t wait for permission to lead your perspective is already valuable.
Invest in your learning, build a strong support network, and let your values guide your decisions. Advocate for yourself, even when it feels uncomfortable. And most importantly, remember that you belong in every space where impact is made. You are part of a powerful lineage of women who teach, uplift, and transform communities, and you are carrying that legacy forward.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in education today is also our greatest opportunity: the rapid rise of artificial intelligence. Many schools are unsure how to integrate AI in ways that strengthen learning rather than replace it. Teachers often feel overwhelmed, students lack clear guidance, and equity gaps risk widening if we don’t act intentionally.
But this moment also opens the door for transformational change. AI gives us the opportunity to redesign instruction, personalize learning, elevate student voices, and create pathways for multilingual learners and first-generation students to thrive. It challenges us to reimagine what teaching can look like when innovation, identity, and humanity work together.
I see this era not as a threat, but as a call to leadership. It’s a chance for educators—especially women and women of color—to shape the future of learning in a way that is ethical, inclusive, and culturally grounded.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide my work and my life are integrity, service, growth, and community. I believe in showing up with honesty and purpose, even when the path requires courage. Service drives everything I do, whether I’m teaching, mentoring, or building tools that support educators and students.
Growth is another core value. I am committed to learning, evolving, and challenging myself so I can lead with clarity and authenticity. And above all, I value community. I believe in creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential. My work is rooted in the belief that when we lift others, we all rise.
