Dr. Beth Adubato is a Professor of Criminal Justice at Saint Peter’s University, a Fulbright Scholar, and the Founder and Executive Director of The LINDA Organization (wearelinda.org). With a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University and a Master’s in Public Affairs and Politics from the Edward J. Bloustein School, Dr. Adubato brings deep academic expertise and real-world experience to her teaching and research. Her work focuses on media, gender, and justice, and she is a proud member of four unions, reflecting her strong commitment to advocacy and equity in education and beyond.

As the founder of The LINDA Organization, Dr. Adubato leads initiatives that support women who are victims of domestic violence, returning citizens, and those experiencing homelessness. Through the collection and distribution of essential items—such as toiletries, cosmetics, clothing, and children’s goods—LINDA provides tangible assistance and community connection to women rebuilding their lives. The organization is expanding its reach through LINDA TV, a platform dedicated to sharing women’s stories under the banner “Equally beautiful and beautifully equal,” as well as through The Ladies of LINDA podcast, co-hosted with Dr. Nicole Sachs, which explores women’s issues within and beyond the criminal justice system.

In addition to her nonprofit leadership, Dr. Adubato is an accomplished author and media professional. Her publications include government reports, peer-reviewed journal articles, and three books: Grammar for Grownups, Fanning the Flames: Televised, Professional Football and Domestic Violence, and the novel Life’s a Mother. Drawing on her background as a television reporter and actor, she brings a unique perspective to discussions at the intersection of media, culture, and justice—empowering her students, colleagues, and audiences to think critically about representation, violence, and social change.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work, persistence, and a deep belief that everyone deserves an equal chance to succeed. Throughout my career—in academia, media, and nonprofit work—I’ve been guided by the principle of equity and inclusion. I measure success not only by personal accomplishments, but by how much I can help open doors for others and create opportunities that empower people to reach their full potential.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this field is to never be discouraged and to stay true to your vision. Be creative in your thinking and open to new possibilities—there’s rarely just one path to achieving your goals. Every experience, even the unexpected ones, can bring you closer to where you’re meant to be. Believe in your abilities, trust your instincts, and know that your voice and perspective matter.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are authenticity, compassion, and joy. I believe in bringing my whole self to everything I do—whether I’m teaching, leading a nonprofit, or simply spending time with friends and family. I value treating others with kindness and fairness, and I try to find joy in the everyday moments. Dancing and singing remind me to stay present, express myself freely, and celebrate life, which ultimately fuels my passion and purpose in my work.
