Her Story

About Brooke

I've been in manufacturing for 4 years altogether, and it's the only industry I've worked in. What originally led me to this field was being an influential woman in a male-dominant field and being able to make a positive impact for all employees, whether in the office or on the manufacturing floor. I started off as a junior recruiter and was recently promoted to HR Manager about 2 years ago. In my current role at a young company, I take care of everything employee-related. The biggest part of my work is the recruitment and selection piece, building out a strong, dominant, hardworking team. A typical day-to-day involves influencing our employees, handling the hiring portion of my role, providing benefits that are advantageous for all employees, and creating career paths and career growth opportunities for everybody at our company. The other part is building personal and professional connections. My proudest accomplishment is building out my entire team - I've hired over 40-plus employees and have been able to grow and expand the team. The most rewarding aspect of what I do is being able to help employees continue to grow in their paths and being that safe place for employees, helping them build out their path for growth.

Ten minutes with Brooke

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to how I was raised around the Midwestern values and always doing the right thing. The little things matter the most to me. My motto is one day at a time, and I believe in just taking things step by step. Those foundational values and that approach to life have been the key factors in everything I've accomplished so far.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I'd have for them is put your head down early and keep grinding. And the other thing I would say is don't forget the people part of HR. There's a lot of younger individuals that are graduating from college that are in HR, and they ask me what advice would you give me, and I think that'd be the biggest piece - don't forget the HR piece of HR, the human part. That's what really matters at the end of the day.
