Her Story

About Caroline

I worked my way through college doing restaurant management, and I knew that fast-paced teamwork was non-negotiable for me. I studied nonprofit leadership, and Enterprise does a lot for the community where they work - they plant trees, have roads to success programs, and employees can apply for local grant funding for nonprofits they're involved in, which really tugged at my heartstrings. I've been with Enterprise Mobility for 16 years total, spending 8 years managing rental car locations, 5 years as a sales executive in replacement, 2 years as an area manager, and now 2 years in my current division. I thrive working with people and have had opportunities to manage teams and sell a product I believe in, which is the teams that work for Enterprise Mobility. In my current role, I'm offering our rideshare workforce solution, which is very unique. I identify clients who could benefit from our program, present the case to employers on why it makes sense to support their workforce, convince employees of the cost savings and benefits for their families, and on great days, we're delivering vehicles to clients and celebrating. I'm essentially selling an idea that supports people and the planet, and my goal is how do we help people and what does this give back to the communities in which we live.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think one of the most powerful things for me personally has been understanding that it's not about work-life balance where things are equal on both sides - in all transparency, it's a work-life blend. If you're fighting so hard to keep them separated and equal, it's incredibly challenging. When you understand what your family needs and what your career needs to be successful, those two areas can blend very successfully. It's hilarious to listen to my child do presentations because she's now heard me do so many. At the end of the day, I think for me, that advice has been it's very hard to balance the two, but you can be successful in blending the two. I've also learned that my skill set is being a good listener and following that 80-20 rule, only talking 20% of the time when it comes to true, authentic sales or consulting.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is about work-life blend rather than work-life balance. We talk so much about work-life balance and expect things to be equal on both sides, but in all transparency, it's a work-life blend. If you're fighting so hard to keep them separated and equal, it's incredibly challenging. When you understand what your family needs and what your career needs to be successful, those two areas can blend very successfully. It's hilarious to listen to my child do presentations because she's now heard me do so many. For me, that advice has been it's very hard to balance the two, but you can be successful in blending the two.
