Her Story
About christine
I've been in learning and development for 18 years. I started at Consumers Energy doing billing and meter correction in a bigger city, but when one of my daughters got leukemia, I needed to be closer to home and family. I bid on a job in the training department where my family lived, and that's how I got into training. Over the years, I've had some incredible achievements. I brought AI training into all of the Kellogg plants for designing training and other applications. I was also at Pfizer when COVID came out, so I was involved in training for that critical time. What drives me most is a natural desire to help people achieve their goals. I've been blessed to be around some very good people throughout my career who have taught me so many things, helped me look at things differently, and helped me streamline processes. One of my favorite sayings is 'never look down on anybody unless you're helping them up' because everybody has great potential in them, you just have to help bring it out.

Ten minutes with christine
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the people along the way who have lifted me up and been an inspiration to me. I've really been blessed to be around some very good people who have taught me so many things and helped me look at things differently, helped me streamline processes. I'm grateful for that. One of my favorite sayings is 'never look down on anybody unless you're helping them up' because it's kind of a thing I live by. Everybody has great potential in them, you just have to help bring it out, and I've just been blessed to have several people do that for me.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be around people that inspire you, that you want to be like. Don't hang around the people that don't inspire you. I wish I would have known that when my kids were teenagers.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunity is AI and seeing how we can use that to streamline processes in so many different ways. The biggest challenges are probably all the new changes to pretty much everything because of AI. You've got new equipment coming in that you can hook up to it, so many things that are changing because of it. For learning and development specifically, it's going to change the way we're doing our jobs. I know AI is going to take some of our jobs, but if we can reimagine our jobs in different ways, we might be able to come up with something new and better.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In my work, it's once again helping people achieve their goals. In my personal life, it's family. Everything revolves around family. When your kids are little, you're working for them, and then now it's grandkids.
