Her Story

About Courtney

I've been in the automotive repair industry for about 18 years, with 13 of those years in automotive repair and dealerships. I got my start when a friend gave me a position painting the outside of his building, and from there, customers were coming in and I just kind of fell into place, helping customers with their questions and being the middleman between the technician and the customer - I just decided that I loved it. I went on to run the service department at Ford Motor Company dealership up until 2024, and before that, I was shop manager for an independent shop in Odessa, helping a friend get his shop going. Taking care of customers is part of my heart - I get emotionally invested and think of each customer as if they were my own family member, son, or daughter, and I try to make sure that they're taken care of and their vehicle is safe and reliable. In 2024, when I was managing the service department in Stanton, we were recognized by the Stanton Chamber of Commerce for customer service, outstanding workmanship, and taking care of the community, and it was featured on the front page of the newspaper. I'm a Master Certified Service Manager for Ford, as well as parts and service master certified manager through Ford. I'm currently enrolled in college to get my degree in business management because my ultimate goal is to own my own independent shop and help people with checkered backgrounds and criminal history, and people that are surviving drug addictions and sexual abuse, to help them get on their feet by offering them a position and a job, an opportunity.

Ten minutes with Courtney

01What do you attribute your success to?

I owe every bit of my achievements to my first service manager, Randy Carroll, at Pollard Chevrolet. He taught me what it meant to have integrity, to build an honest relationship with the customers, and to show compassion but yet stand my ground. He made me believe in myself again, and being a woman in that industry, it's already difficult. To be able to be confident, have a softer conversation with the customer, and be able to be calm and understanding all in the same - it's something that I'm proud of, and I owe every bit of my achievements to him. I get emotionally invested in my customers - I think of each customer as if they were my own family member, son, or daughter, and I try to make sure that they're taken care of and their vehicle is safe and reliable.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just do it, I mean, and do whatever you're wanting to do, you know, do it with your head up and your shoulders out. Some days are going to be really good, and some days are going to be really bad, but at the end of it, I mean, if you're cut for that position and that industry, then it's not a job anymore, it's a passion. You can do it.
