About Dennisse
I've been in the healthcare field for nearly 12 years, and I've been an EPIC analyst for about 6 years now. I started my career at MedStar Hospital Center working as a nurse in an inpatient setting, where I got the opportunity to work on the administrative side of things, dealing with hospital census and ocean inspections. I then moved into radiology, handling administrative tasks including billing and coding. From 2019 to 2023, I served as a practice manager at an internal medicine practice with 12 providers, along with a cardiology location with one provider. While I was there learning the Epic EMR system and getting credentialed, my director of operations reached out to me about an opening at corporate that she thought I was perfectly suited for, which led to my promotion to Epic Prelude Cadence and Ambulatory Analyst. In my current role at corporate, I train new hires whether they're providers, nurses, or medical assistants. I compose workflows, analyze and validate them, and do a lot of optimization builds. I also work side-by-side with my director on interviews and conduct audits. My day-to-day involves troubleshooting, training, implementing, validating, building, integrating, testing, and finding resolutions. I also handle a lot of compliance work. Honestly, I got into the IT field unexpectedly, and I thought I would never be here, but I'm so motivated right now. My goal is to continue to grow and expand, and in 5 years I see myself as a senior analyst.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't give up! Keep your head up. It's going to get frustrated, it's going to get hard, but there's always a solution to everything. If you are willing to work for it, you will get there. If you're willing to do the extra research, go the extra mile, you will figure it out. My strongly advice would be just never give up on your dreams. You don't know what the other side looks like. And just continue to work for what you want, and sometimes unexpected things will open up that you may not be aware of that you have the knowledge for.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Healthcare is constantly changing, so we have to be constantly on our toes about everything that's going on. This includes, you know, with the government, different acts that all of a sudden they're just being placed, especially now with AI. A lot of things are changing, a lot of things are transforming the healthcare industry. So that is definitely a challenge because it's not always staying the same. I can definitely say that it's interesting because every day there's a challenge, but there's always a learning lesson after it, and you just learn every day. You never stop learning.
