Nijia Williams, MSW, LGSW, is a Behavioral Health and Healthcare Engagement Leader, entrepreneur, and author with over a decade of experience in community-based clinical care, outreach supervision, provider relations, and Medicaid managed care systems. She is the founder and owner of Heavy Is The Head That Wears The Crown since 2022, through which she launched a 30-day transformational devotional in January 2026, designed to support spiritual growth, self-reflection, and purpose-driven living. As the first member of her family to attend college, Nijia is deeply committed to using her platform to inspire and empower women navigating seasons of transition.

In addition to her entrepreneurial pursuits, Nijia serves as a Provider Network Account Executive II for AmeriHealth Caritas DC, where she partners with contracted providers to strengthen networks, ensure compliance, and lead performance improvement initiatives within Medicaid managed care. Her career began in direct behavioral health service delivery, supporting children, youth, and families through crisis intervention, school-based programming, and community-centered care. Over time, she advanced into supervisory and leadership roles, managing outreach teams, leading HEDIS-aligned initiatives, and collaborating cross-functionally to improve access, quality outcomes, and member satisfaction.

Nijia holds a Master of Social Work from Howard University and is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) in the District of Columbia. She brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, operational strategy, and entrepreneurial vision to all her endeavors. Passionate about advancing equitable healthcare systems and empowering women, she leverages her professional and personal experiences to lead with compassion, accountability, and purpose—supporting underserved communities while inspiring others to achieve their fullest potential.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my early life experiences and trauma, and to the purposeful work of transforming those experiences into fuel for growth. A relationship with God provided a moral compass and foundation that helped me lead, persevere, and cultivate purpose.

Identify what you are called to do; carry out that responsibility with obedience and integrity; use wisdom and seek guidance from those who have been through it; avoid being swayed by societal expectations or comparison; maintain your morals and spiritual grounding.
