Mavis Sika Okyere, Ph.D. is a corrosion scientist, pipeline integrity specialist, and engineering leader with more than 15 years of experience across the oil and gas industry. Her expertise spans corrosion engineering, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), pipeline integrity management, digital twin technologies, predictive analytics, and asset integrity optimization.
She currently serves as Assistant Manager of Pipeline Integrity at Ghana National Gas Limited, where she leads initiatives focused on strengthening pipeline integrity through advanced engineering analysis, CFD-based modelling, artificial intelligence, and digital twin technologies. Throughout her career, she has contributed to the development and implementation of corrosion risk assessment, pipeline inspection, integrity evaluation, failure analysis, fitness-for-service assessments, advanced coatings, and erosion-corrosion management strategies.
Mavis combines strong technical expertise with a research-driven approach to solving complex engineering challenges. Her work focuses on translating advanced scientific research into practical, predictive, and sustainable solutions for pipeline and asset integrity.
She is an accomplished researcher and author, with 20+ peer-reviewed publications and five books addressing pipeline integrity, corrosion protection, and gas pipeline management. Her work has been presented at major international conferences, including PSIG in the United States, SCI Synopsis in Europe, and MattCorr in India.
Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Ghana, an MSc in Gas Engineering and Management from the University of Salford in the United Kingdom, and a BSc in Civil Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Mavis is committed to engineering education, mentorship, knowledge sharing, and advancing the role of technology in asset integrity management. She has served as a lecturer in fluid mechanics and oil and gas management and contributes to professional engineering communities and industry conferences through technical committee roles.
Her contributions to engineering were also recognized on Ada Lovelace Day in 2017, highlighting her work and achievements as a woman in engineering.
