About Gloria
I worked in the student loan industry for over 26 years as an accounting specialist at Navient University, where I learned through an apprenticeship-style certificate program under an accountant. This journey I was not expecting to take, but I find myself in it. I launched my first book in February 2026 called The Glory Carrier, A Prayer Journey, where I'm taking my journey and inviting others to follow along and start their own journey. The book went number one when it launched. I started Be Aglow Ministries in 2026, where I provide grief and loss counseling and help people with their healing journey. I have been a minister since 2008 and an elder, dealing with grief and loss and marriage counseling since that time. I volunteer for Farr's Best, Be Aglow Ministries, and BMG (Black Men's Group), my husband's not-for-profit that gives back to the four pillars of the community and empowers young men to inspire and be more than statistics on the street. In the next four years, I would like to run a ministry that caters from start to end in healthcare, including wellness counseling, marriage counseling, birthing doula services, and end-of-life doula services. My key to success has been leaning on the Lord, period. I want to show other women that you can overcome any obstacle and empower yourself. If you would have asked me even a year or so ago that I was going to be on any platform at all, I would have never believed it.

Ten minutes with Gloria
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to leaning on the Lord, period. This journey I was not expecting to take, but I find myself in this journey. The course of my first book, The Glory Carrier, A Prayer Journey, is about taking my journey and inviting others to follow along and start their own journey. If you would have asked me even a year or so ago that I was going to be on any platform at all, I wouldn't have believed it. But I've learned to never underestimate your own potential. My key has been leaning on the Lord through this unexpected journey.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I want to show other women that you can overcome any obstacle and empower yourself. If you would have asked me even a year or so ago that I was going to be on any platform at all, I wouldn't have believed it. But never underestimate your own potential. This journey I was not expecting to take, but I find myself in it, and I'm leaning on the Lord. Through my book, The Glory Carrier, A Prayer Journey, I'm taking my journey and inviting others to follow along and start their own journey. You can overcome anything and empower yourself, no matter where you're starting from.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was that publishers didn't want anything to do with my prayer book. I took it to four different publishers, and they said prayer was boring. Talking about a prayer journey was boring to them. That was a real challenge. But I finally reached out to someone and said I'm really trying to get this done. She gave me three editors, and I prayed and said, Lord, please connect me with the right one. I wanted somebody who was personable and not just worried about signing people up. The person who reached out to me was very personable, and that connection gave me the momentum to get my book finished. Another challenge is that we've become silos and don't know how to have conversations anymore - conversations with ourselves, with the Lord, with others. We forget to have those conversations, and that's what my work is about: helping people understand that prayer is just a conversation, and we need to know when to pray, what to pray, and how to pray.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important value to me is leaning on the Lord in everything I do. This journey I was not expecting to take, but I find myself in it, and my faith guides me. Through my work with grief and loss counseling and the healing journey, I help people find their way. My book, The Glory Carrier, A Prayer Journey, is about taking my journey and inviting others to follow along and start their own journey. I also value empowering others, especially women, to overcome any obstacle and empower themselves. I want to show people that you can achieve things you never thought possible if you lean on the Lord and believe in your own potential.
