Her Story

About Jasmine

I've been in banking and finance for over 10 years, and my journey started as a bank teller at a credit union. I've always been good with money management, budgeting, and cash collection, so that's how I got started. From there, it progressed to doing auditing and other forms of accounting, and it's advanced throughout the field. I've been a loan officer, I've done other forms of credit management, and I've worked with the SBA during the beginning stages of COVID. Currently, I work for TD Bank as a Credit Management Associate, Grade 6, in commercial banking. I assist with the underwriting process and look over loan review and underwriting for retail and commercial businesses to get them from the beginning stages of the loan to loan completion, so they can get money for their businesses. I've been in this role for about three and a half years, and I'm actually interviewing for a promotion next week. What got me into banking was both personal and professional - personally, I wanted to learn more about my own money management and to be able to help my family in the long run, and professionally, I was doing well with cash collection and accounting, so being able to merge those two things together has been beneficial for me over the years.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

It's always changing, which, you know, change is inevitable, but be willing and able to adapt. That's what's been keeping me in the forefront, and also me interested in this particular career, because working in it for over a decade, it's always a challenge, it's always something to learn, and I love that. You want to come to work knowing that every day is not going to be the same, so it makes you more involved and keeps you on your toes, and it's a good field to be a part of, because someone's gonna always need somewhere to put their money and invest, and also that is just a place of growth.
