Her Story
About Lindsay
I've been doing ministry for about 5 years now, starting in addiction ministry and then transitioning into working with senior adults. I didn't get to grow up with grandparents, so I never really had that influence in my life, and I've just always loved helping people and being there for others. I've really taken up with grandparents, and I love being there for them. When they're sick, I take care packages and stuff like that. I visit them in the hospital. Every month I organize bingo and we do prizes and other little games. They really pour into me as far as giving me their wisdom and telling me what they've been through. It's really rewarding for me because of who I am as a person. I am a woman of faith who absolutely loves God, and I didn't always grow up in the best environment. I didn't have a great role model growing up. My childhood was a little rough. But when the Lord found me, it just completely changed my life, and I completely changed my outlook on my children. I came from a completely different background to where I'm at now today, and having these influences and people in my life has really made a difference in me being a woman of God that I am, and it has built me to be who I am as a person today. I'm a full-time mom with 5 children, including an autistic daughter, and I'm able to manage everything with the Lord. I handle budgeting and finances for the ministry, caretaking, visiting nursing homes and people's homes, just loving on people and taking them food. In the afternoons, I pick up my children and we're straight into baseball season, track, wrestling, and managing things with my autistic daughter. I'm non-stop until everybody's in bed, and then that's when I get my alone time.

Ten minutes with Lindsay
01What do you attribute your success to?
God. Honestly, I can't say I've done anything. He has to get all the glory, because I'm telling you, I look back on everything that I've been through, and even thinking about it, it's like, I don't know how I did this, and then it's like, but God. If somebody had the time to read what's going into this book, they're gonna be like, wow, because when I look back on everything that I've been through, I realize I couldn't have done it without Him.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Someone who is a leader is a servant first, and there's a difference between a boss and a leader. A boss is someone who dictates and isn't willing to get their hands dirty to help when help is needed, but a leader is a servant, and they're the first ones to jump in when they see that the people around them are struggling. I've always taken that with me as being the director of the seniors and in a leadership role. This teaching comes from Jesus as well, and it's shaped how I approach leadership in everything I do.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always come with boldness. Don't ever let anybody silence your voice. Follow your dreams and never let anyone hold you back from what you're meant to do and who God has called you to be.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is probably trying to navigate everything to make sure that I reach everybody that needs help. There's so many people out there that need it, and I want to make sure I'm able to help as many people as possible.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In my personal life, my faith in God is definitely the most important value. I'm a woman of God before I'm anything, and then I'm a wife, and then I'm a mom. My family comes first, especially my husband and my children. Communication is also huge for me. I'm big on being able to communicate openly. If there's an issue, let's figure it out, let's get to the bottom of it, let's talk about it. Let's grow together and work together to come up with a resolution. Sometimes that's hard to find in a work environment, but it's something I value deeply. I have to thank my best friend April Pearson who has been a guiding light and Pastor Ashley Way and his wife Sister Kimmie who have pushed me into my calling. They have all pushed me when I wanted to quit. I thank God for the right people he placed in my life.
