Her Interview
Ten minutes with Mallory
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say relationships, curiosity, and a willingness to take initiative have been some of the biggest contributors to my success. Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to have mentors, colleagues, supervisors, and friends who encouraged me, challenged me, and helped me grow.
I'm naturally curious and genuinely enjoy learning about people, careers, and organizations. That curiosity has led me to pursue new opportunities, continue learning, and explore ideas that I may not have considered otherwise.
I've also always had an intrapreneurial mindset. I enjoy identifying needs and creating programs, resources, and opportunities that help people learn, grow, and succeed.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Throughout my career, relationships have opened doors, provided perspective, and helped me navigate challenges and opportunities. Some of the most valuable conversations I've had weren't about finding a job. They were about learning, exploring ideas, and building genuine connections with people I respected.
I often encourage people to create their own "board of advisors" by surrounding themselves with mentors, colleagues, and trusted individuals who can offer support, feedback, and different perspectives. Career decisions can feel overwhelming when we try to figure everything out on our own.
Many of the opportunities and insights that shaped my career came through relationships. That's why I encourage people to invest in their network long before they need it.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Believe in yourself before you feel completely ready.
I think many women put pressure on themselves to have all the answers or meet every qualification before taking the next step. In reality, growth often comes from being willing to learn, ask questions, and gain experience along the way.
I would also encourage young women to invest in relationships. Seek mentors, build connections, support one another, and stay curious. Some of the opportunities that shaped my career came from conversations with people who shared advice, encouragement, and new perspectives.
Most importantly, remember that you don't have to have all the answers. Sometimes the next step is simply being willing to take the first one.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think one of the biggest opportunities right now is helping people recognize strengths, opportunities, and career paths they may not have considered before.
The world of work is changing quickly. Technology is evolving, organizations are adapting, and people are asking bigger questions about growth, purpose, and what's next for them professionally.
At the same time, I see tremendous opportunity for both individuals and organizations. When people better understand their strengths, interests, values, and experiences, they make better decisions about their careers. And when organizations invest in employee growth and development, they create environments where people can continue learning and contributing in meaningful ways.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Collaboration, authenticity, accountability, and growth are the values that guide me most.
I believe in learning from and supporting other people. Collaboration has played a major role in my own career, and many of the programs and initiatives I've helped develop were made stronger through partnerships and shared ideas.
I value authenticity because meaningful growth starts with self-awareness and honest conversations. I value accountability because growth requires ownership and a willingness to learn from experience.
Above all, I value growth and lifelong learning. I believe people are capable of learning, developing new skills, and creating opportunities for themselves throughout their lives and careers.
