She is currently pursuing further studies in Coastal Science and Policy, driven by her passion for protecting marine and coastal ecosystems. Deeply motivated by her love of nature and commitment to environmental justice, Molly continues to champion equitable climate solutions that ensure all communities have access to clean air, water, and a sustainable future.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a formative childhood experience. Growing up in Pittsburgh during the fracking boom, my grandparents’ water was contaminated by a nearby leak—an event that made it clear our energy system was flawed. That experience inspired me to pursue environmental policy and become a climate organizer, driven by the belief that real solutions require both sound policy and a movement to make them happen.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women entering this work that we need your perspective and energy. There’s a role for everyone—whether you’re leading, creating, or supporting—and the key is finding work that aligns with your skills and passion.

Your voice can shape the movement and remind us what’s possible. At the same time, this work is challenging, so prioritize self-care and rest—it’s essential for staying engaged and sustaining your impact over the long haul.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field are the political and financial power of the fossil-fuel industry, a lack of political will, and frequent policy rollbacks. At the same time, there are significant opportunities to build mass grassroots support that can shift public and policy conversations, and to focus energy on protecting coastal and marine ecosystems.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are sustainability, protecting wildlife and communities, fostering care and resilience, and nurturing hope. I also deeply value the restorative power of joy and connection to nature, which keeps me grounded and motivated.
