Her Story

About Morgan

I've been in the home care industry for 12 years, and I currently serve as Executive Director at ADB Group Living, a small business I joined in April 2024. I work with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities - typically younger adults between 18 and 40, though sometimes we get older adults too. My expertise centers on strategic planning, looking at the future of the company and seeing how to reach our long-term goals, and helping guide the team on how to reach those goals. I also focus heavily on operations, where I've improved processes and worked with the HR department to improve the workflow and the hiring process. I'm about 3 months away from completing my MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, which I consider my most notable professional achievement thus far. I also earned my bachelor's in general studies from two schools - I started at Indiana University Bloomington, then some things happened and I dropped out, but I came back in 2023 and finished up at IUPUI. I hold a Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma as well. Overcoming challenges is a big part of my story - I've faced a lot of challenges in my life, and I just keep getting back up after I fall down. The failure will teach you the lessons you need to know.

Ten minutes with Morgan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the relationships in my life, people I feel like I don't want to let down, that I want to make proud of me. These relationships keep me motivated and drive me to keep pushing forward, even when things get challenging.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't give up, no matter what. I've faced a lot of challenges in my life, and the key is to just keep getting back up after you fall down. The failure is going to teach you the lessons you need to know. Overcoming challenges is a big part of my story, and I truly believe that perseverance is what will carry you through the harder days.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

A big challenge that we're facing is that they're cutting a lot of Medicaid spending right now, so we're having to kind of figure out the best way to keep the business up and running while also maintaining the guidelines that they're putting out. In terms of opportunities, I would say partnering with local organizations and community organizations is important. Housing is a big opportunity - that's where we face a lot of challenges, finding housing for our people, so any kind of partnerships with real estate and things like that would be really good opportunities for us.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Compassion is the most important value to me. In healthcare, you have to have that compassion piece and truly care about the people that you're serving, because some days are harder than others. You've got to have that compassion to get through those difficult times and continue making a meaningful impact in people's lives.
