About Morgan

My journey in new construction home sales started in 2014, though my connection to the industry goes back much further - my dad has been a home sales trainer for as long as I can remember. After college, I decided I wasn't going to follow in his footsteps and tried advertising for a year, but I hated it so much I cried every day when I came home from work. That lasted about 365 days before I said okay, I need to go get my real estate license. Since then, I've worked with probably 10 to 12 builders through my career, several at a time in most cases, and moved up into management. Now I focus on sales training, which is my favorite aspect because I get to work with teams to help them get better and give them the confidence they need to close the deal and help customers get over to that closing line. Being able to do that on a larger scale is definitely one of my favorite things. I also do slight management for a really small builder that's just getting off the ground here in Huntsville, and I handle bankruptcy asset management for bankruptcy trustees through the court system. On the side, I'm a Pilates instructor - actually Lagree, which is like a subsidiary of Pilates that's more strength-based. I've only been instructing for about 3 months after taking it for close to a year and loving it so much that when they opened a new studio, I wanted to teach. I teach a few times a week as my fun hobby on the side.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best piece of advice I've received is that authenticity sells. People like working with people that they like, but people buy from people like them. So as long as you can be your authentic self, I think that is probably the best piece of advice.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Strap in. It's a wild ride. Every day is very different, and yet routine is so important. So being flexible while also maintaining a rigid kind of schedule within yourself is extremely important. And I would say if you love what you do, if you can integrate it into your life so that even when you are technically, quote-unquote, off, answering the phone for a deal doesn't ruin your day or anything like that, and you can jump right back in, it's going to make the transition and success rate so much higher. Being able to integrate it into your life without ruining your life.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would say independence and confidence are going to be the highest core value. You can't sell anything if you don't believe in the product. So you have to believe in yourself before other people will believe you. And then integrity, and just integrity and authenticity. So, confidence, integrity, and authenticity, I would say, are probably my three core values when it comes to work, is never compromising yourself for a job or for a sale, you know, integrity, always being as honest as you can to be able to help whoever you're helping, and then, confidence, as I stated before, because you have to believe in yourself before anyone else will.
