Her Story
About Nancy
After graduating from college with a degree in sociology and a minor in business, I started my career in human resources, which I loved because it was all about people. After the birth of my second son, I went to work for a gentleman who had an executive search firm, and we knew a lot of the same people ironically. His wife came up with the idea for Chocolates a la Carte, and I migrated over to her, eventually becoming their first employee. I spent 27 years there, growing this company from day one into a successful business. My main area of expertise was customer service - if I was in the office, I was on the phone with customers, either answering questions or helping them with orders, or navigating where their order is in the process. I also did outside sales work, traveling to customers about four times a year. I had many loyal customers that would only talk to me, would only deal with me, and I made friends with some of my customers. I am still in touch with a couple of them many years later. I became very passionate about what I was doing, and I love chocolate, so you can put those two together. I never had another job that even came close to that one - I loved almost every minute. I retired in 2018 or 2019 after 32 years in my field.
