A trailblazer in the entertainment industry, Nitara’s career spans over two decades, during which she has written more than 40 scripts, treatments, and series episodes. What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the dedication and hard work I’ve invested in every step of my journey. In 2009, I produced the film Running on Empty Dreams, which was featured on Netflix and is now available on Tubi. Alongside my work in the industry, I earned my Master’s in Education, enabling me to teach college-level screenwriting. Today, I continue to work professionally in both San Diego, California, and Phoenix, Arizona, while mentoring aspiring writers and filmmakers, sharing the knowledge and experience I’ve gained throughout my career.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. By staying focused and committed to the goals you set for yourself, you have the power to achieve your greatest dreams.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the film and screenwriting industry is simple: you can achieve success too. With passion, dedication, and perseverance, it’s possible to carve out your own path and make a meaningful impact in this field.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now is being available to support others—whether as a mentor or through my work in film and publishing. Balancing professional projects while guiding and inspiring emerging talent requires dedication, but it also allows me to make a meaningful impact on the next generation of creatives.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are dedication, balance, and well-being. I commit myself fully to writing and developing scripts, while also prioritizing time for self-care—whether that’s walking in nature, staying active through workouts, enjoying matcha, or relaxing at the beach. Maintaining this balance helps me stay creative, focused, and energized in everything I do.
