Her Interview

Ten minutes with Nourhan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of dedication, curiosity, and a genuine love for learning. I’ve been fortunate to have a strong support system that has encouraged me through pivots, pauses, and growth, allowing me to stay focused and grounded. Together, these have shaped how I approach my work—with commitment, openness, and a drive to keep growing while creating meaningful impact.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is that success looks different for everyone and doesn’t have to follow a linear path. I’ve also learned that taking pivots or pauses doesn’t mean falling behind—it often means moving forward with more clarity. Trusting my own timeline, rather than comparing it to others, has allowed me to accomplish what I set out to do in a way that felt right for both my career and my life.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women not to be afraid of nontraditional paths or moments that look like “detours.” Your career can evolve alongside your life, and those experiences often strengthen your perspective, confidence, and leadership. Trust your timeline, stay grounded in your strengths, and don’t underestimate the value of your voice.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Medical communications is rapidly evolving, offering exciting opportunities for those who enjoy blending science with strategic storytelling. Demand is growing as precision medicine and rare disease research expand, creating a need for experts who can translate complex evidence into clear, impactful narratives. There is also exciting opportunity with AI as advances in AI and digital tools are enhancing efficiency and creativity, helping writers analyze literature faster, generate insights, and elevate content quality. At the same time, there’s increasing opportunity to specialize, collaborate across global teams, and shape how scientific evidence informs clinicians, patients, and healthcare decision-makers.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is central to both my professional and personal life—being honest, ethical, and thoughtful in how I work and how I show up for others. I also value curiosity and continuous learning, which keep me engaged and evolving, and accountability, both to the quality of my work and to the people I collaborate with. Above all, I value purpose and balance, striving to build a career and life that align with my values, support those around me, and allow me to create meaningful, lasting impact.
