Her Story
About Pamela
I do social media content creation, both UGC and influencer contracts, and I've been doing this officially for about 2 years now. I created my own website, pambetrippin.com, where I guide brands through what I offer like a menu - they can pick commercials talking to the camera, before and afters, get ready with me videos, and see all the different things I offer. My family and I moved from Mexico City when I was very young and we built everything from scratch. I went to FIDM, a fashion school for design and merchandise, and got a degree in marketing in the beauty industry. I've always loved the beauty and fashion realm but didn't know how to make it a business at first. During college, I was a makeup artist at Sephora for Universal Studios and got to see it built from scratch, which was so cool. I went through 2 months of serious makeup training. I also worked as an assistant to an influencer for women, and that's when I realized maybe I could start doing this for myself. I've always loved YouTube, so I taught myself how to edit videos on my computer and would make over 20 videos every month without posting them. Then one day I decided to just start posting my stuff. I also got into event modeling for brands like LaCroix and San Pellegrino, which taught me the importance of talking to customers and understanding the client base. I realized I was missing credibility and needed a website to streamline everything, so I spent about a week creating one with a scroll menu. Now I have my own LLC and manage 8 different platforms - Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, Pinterest, Reels, Lemonade, and Threads. My content is very whimsical and creative, focused on beauty and fashion, and I try to sprinkle in motivational messages every day to get women up and moving, encouraging them to work out and focus on themselves.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think the biggest shift happening right now is that models and influencers are being blended together. Modeling agencies now want models to have so many followers, which is tough for traditional models who aren't influencers. But for someone like me, if I put myself out there with confidence and reach out to clothing brands, they're interested because I can do both the modeling and the social media aspect under one package. It's unfortunate for traditional models because it's a full-time job for them to already look the part, and now they have to manage social media too. They're in the gym 5 hours a day, eating clean, no cheat days. It's just a new wave of marketing - you see it with actors too, like in Devil Wears Prada there were a lot of influencers. Actors are upset because they feel like influencers are taking their jobs, but it's just the new wave. If you don't have a backing, no matter what you want to do, it's different now. I'm trying my best to get with it and find new ways to make money within my own industry without having to reinvent the wheel every month - just building onto the already existing business concept to get more revenue each time.
