01What do you attribute your success to?

I would like to credit my success to my family, who are always there for me, standing by me, as I dedicate my time, energy, and hard work to succeeding and making a positive difference in the real world. Additionally, I would like to credit my success to my advisors, peers, and colleagues, who have helped guide me along my career and professional pathways. Lastly, I would like to credit my success to my confidence, hard work, and persistence, which have enabled me to become a professor, researcher, advisor, and scientist.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I received from my mother was to believe in yourself, keep pursuing your dreams, and maintain a healthy life with your family and friends. Well-planned goals, a clear plan, hard work, a positive attitude, and persistence certainly lead to success in your life. At the same time, don't lose your patience, kindness, and goodness while working toward your goals. These qualities help maintain your positivity in your surroundings and may help others succeed as well.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Women in industry need an understanding of the company's demands and resources, management and hands-on skills, networking and collaborative abilities, risk management, and professionalism. These skills are very helpful for women to grow in the industry.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field is securing federal funding to support my research. We have approximately a 10% success rate on this.

However, there are many opportunities for networking and collaboration. If you are really passionate about teaching, sharing innovations and developments, then academia is the best place to work.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my work and personal life, I value honesty and strong moral principles. As an innovator and developer, I believe in creativity and progress, whether in a classroom or a lab. I also believe in being responsible for my duties. My job requires teamwork. I believe in providing flexibility so the team can adapt quickly to changes and address challenges as needed. This helps me create a positive environment among team members.
