Her Story

About Samantha

I've been working in health and wellness and population health for about 20 years, starting when I was young. My work in this field has naturally expanded into both authorship and insurance. I hold a Master's of Science in Exercise Physiology, which I received in 2013. I'm a member of the Wellness Alliance and was one of the founding members of their young professionals network, though I've since moved beyond that level. I've also done keynote speaking and presenting throughout my career. Last year, I served as president of Women United of the United Way, and I'm currently the direct past president. As someone who has been on the other side of layoffs, I've experienced that adversity firsthand, which has made me passionate about helping everyone, especially women, create their own personal brand and lean into that to help them with finding careers. Looking ahead to the next five years, I want to see myself financially stable enough to do whatever I want with my kids.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think validation outside of myself and those that are close to me is really important, because of course people close to me are going to tell me I'm doing great things, but that validation from outside lets me know if I'm headed in the right direction. I also really value championing women and having outlets to share that I support women, especially women in business. I think this is an area of big opportunity. As I sit here in the financial district with 75% men walking around, I see how important it is. Being someone who's been on the other side of layoffs and having to go through that adversity, I think it's very important that everyone, especially women, create their own personal brand and lean into that to help them with finding careers. My personal brand is something I really value, and looking ahead, I want to be financially stable enough to do whatever I want with my kids.
