Sara Benjamin
Sara Benjamin is a dedicated healthcare professional and problem solver with over two decades of experience in clinical informatics and healthcare administration. Currently serving as Lead Clinical Informaticist at Sharp HealthCare, she has spent the majority of her career building bridges between clinicians and patients, optimizing workflows, and implementing electronic health record systems to improve care outcomes. Sara’s passion for healthcare stems from her early experiences in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, where she provided hands-on patient care in high-pressure environments and developed a commitment to patient-centered service.
Sara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Speech, Language, and Hearing Science from San Diego State University and her Master of Science in Integrated Design, Business, and Technology from the University of Southern California. Over the years, she has honed her expertise in workflow optimization, Lean Six Sigma, and change management, co-leading major initiatives that streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce clinician burnout. Her work often involves facilitating collaboration between physicians, technical teams, and leadership to drive operational improvements and ensure technology solutions meet real-world clinical needs.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is not to be afraid to pivot when opportunities arise. I’ve been fortunate to have mentors like Maureen Paolini and Cheri Pope who have guided and inspired me throughout my career.
