Her Story

About Soraya

I have been practicing dentistry since 2004, starting my career in Egypt before moving to the United States where I have been practicing since 2010. I specialize in cosmetic dentistry and have dedicated myself to advanced training in this field, completing three residencies in cosmetic dentistry in the U.S. I earned my BDS degree from Cairo, Egypt, and obtained another BDS degree here in the United States. For the past 12 years, I have owned and operated my own practice in Laguna Niguel, California, where I lead a team of seven. My office has become distinguished in Orange County with excellent reviews and a strong reputation. I am a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the California Dental Association. Beyond my professional achievements, I balance my career with being a dedicated mother and wife, and I am passionate about powerlifting, currently training for my first competition.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I definitely attribute my success to my family and being a good example for my kids. My family is the most important value in both my work and personal life. Having two boys, one who is in college and another in high school, drives me to show them what dedication and hard work look like. Being able to balance my career as a dentist and business owner while being present as a mom and wife is what keeps me motivated and successful.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to expect the best in people and in life, in general. Expect the best. This mindset has helped me navigate my career and build strong relationships with my team and patients.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say, for sure, don't give up. It's going to be very tough, and your mind is going to play games on you, telling you you cannot do it, but keep doing it, even if you feel you can't, or even if you have doubts, or even if you feel that's not for you. Sometimes the mind can change, but just keep doing it regardless of the feeling. Don't let your doubts or temporary feelings stop you from pursuing your goals in dentistry.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge for me right now is staffing, finding the right people who love what they do and are willing to give their best into it. It's not just about finding people to fill positions, but finding team members who are truly passionate about their work and committed to excellence. This has been one of the toughest aspects of running my practice.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family is the most important value to me in both my work and personal life. Everything I do, from building my practice to training for powerlifting competitions, is centered around being a good example for my two boys and maintaining balance as a mom and wife. My family drives my success and keeps me grounded.
