Her Story

About Tiffany

I've been passionate about hair since I was a little girl, and that love has sustained me through over 25 years in the beauty industry. I'm a hairstylist, educator, and beauty formulator specializing in natural products. I've taught cosmetology and aesthetics in beauty school, which I absolutely love because educating is at the heart of what I do. Whether I'm working with students, doing thorough consultations with my clients, or teaching women about product knowledge, I find deep satisfaction in helping others learn. I currently work part-time as a hairstylist and run a small business that includes an online store and a salon suite where I provide hair services, facials, and sell my natural skin and hair products. I'm also building a community for women going through menopause to help them navigate the effects on their skin. As a natural hairstylist, I pride myself on being able to work with all hair types and textures. I learned this from my mentor Eva Velez, who showed me that as a cosmetologist, you should never turn anyone away at the door because you're turning away money. I worked at a high-end salon in New York where I was able to do everyone's hair, from men to women, all textures. I also volunteered with the American Cancer Society's Look Good Feel Better program, where I held workshops for women undergoing radiation or chemo treatments, teaching them how to care for their skin and apply makeup to help them feel beautiful during a difficult time.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received came from my mentor Eva Velez, though it was more through her example than her words. She was an awesome beautician who was able to do everyone's hair, and what I learned from her is that you don't turn anyone away. As a cosmetologist, you should know how to do all textures and all types of hair. If you're turning someone away at the door, you're turning away money. You have to question yourself - why are you only doing one type of hair when all types of hair exist? You have curly hair, straight hair, thick hair. That's something I pride myself in because I used to work at a really high-end salon in New York and I was able to do everyone's hair there, men to women to everyone.
