Her Story

About Tiffany

I've always loved weddings and the idea of planning my own wedding when I was a little girl, so it was something I had always kind of been interested in. I got very lucky that I found a job at a bridal boutique when I was in college, and I just fell in love with being able to work with brides and being a part of somebody's most important day of their life. I started full-time at my current company 3 years ago, right around the time I was getting a divorce. I hadn't been in the professional field full-time in 13 years because I had mostly stayed at home with the kids for most of my adult life. I have 5 children - 4 boys and 1 daughter - so I don't have too much free time, but I spend a lot of time with them. During the week, my schedule fluctuates depending on client needs. Most of my week is meeting with clients, creating timelines, doing vendor meetings, and with my planning clients, I do a lot of design concept work and meeting with vendors, especially for floral and catering. On actual wedding days, I arrive at 8 o'clock in the morning and don't leave until the client leaves at the end of the night and I have everything packed up. It can be a 14, 15, 16-hour day, and I am in charge of everything wedding-related on the actual wedding day - setup, making sure vendors are arriving, timeline execution, keeping vendors on track throughout the day, and managing all of the personal decor at the end of the night.

Ten minutes with Tiffany

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would attribute my success to my kids. I'm very driven to give them a good life and to teach them motivation and teach them what hard work looks like. I've had a lot of things happen in the past 3 years, and I think especially for my daughter - I have 4 boys and 1 daughter - I want her to see that women can do hard things, and that women can be successful, and you can have kids, and you can do it on your own.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I had somebody that was really supportive when I first started doing wedding planning full-time, and he told me that I can do hard things, and that I've done much harder things than building a career in the wedding industry. I think that's what's gotten me to the point that I'm at today. I started full-time at this company 3 years ago, right around the time that I was getting a divorce. I hadn't been in the professional field full-time in 13 years, and it wasn't something that I thought I would ever be able to do, because I had mostly stayed at home with the kids for most of my adult life. He told me I can do hard things, and I've done much harder, so I always think about that when I'm having a stressful wedding day, that I've done much harder than run a timeline.
