Her Story

About Yvette

My journey into coaching and consulting really started on my own self-discovery journey. I recognized that I had insecurities and traumas from my past that was causing me to be an overachiever, and oftentimes that leads to attaching self-worth to achievement instead of having intrinsic self-worth. Once I had time to breathe and really reflect on what was going on in my life, I recognized these patterns in my own life. Now what I do is I help women recognize this in their own lives and learn how to go from a place of self-fulfillment instead of what they've achieved. The universe has me working with a lot of executive, high-achieving women who have also experienced some kind of relational trauma that has really knocked them off their foundation. I help them to reclaim their agency and really live a fulfilling life from a place of intrinsic self-worth and confidence, not anything that they've ever achieved. We don't even know how to love ourselves, and that self-love alone is just the foundation of our success and happiness in both our professional and personal lives. I've had clients who can't even look in the mirror and tell themselves that they love themselves. My area of expertise is really helping women to discover themselves all over again, even in this high-achieving world, to heal from whatever pain still has a stronghold on them, and to live a place from purpose and not pain.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Whether it's political or not, fear will always challenge us when we're entering into new territory, new careers. And that fear will always be there. It's really acknowledging the fear and reminding our brain that it is okay to be fearful as we move forward in achieving this next monumental feat in our lives. Not letting the fear hold you back, but recognizing it and allowing ourselves to move through it for growth. Here's a perfect example: last year was the first year that I've had so many keynotes, and I was afraid because this was new territory for me. I'd not really spoken before, and it was one of my goals for last year, and I accomplished that goal. And even through the fear, even through the stumbling of words, it's like, no, I'm human, I'm not perfect, it's okay. This is where growth happens. You have to think about the child, the toddler that is mastering walking. We're going to continue to fall and stumble until we master walking. It's the same concept, even in adulthood. Mistakes are not failure, it's learning.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think the challenges right now is really what's happening in our society. That's kind of pulled into some of my coaching sessions with women. The fear that some of my clients have because they are a woman of color or they are a woman of a distinct race, like Muslim. The fear of where we're headed in our country because of this political climate. So sometimes that's all we talk about, and how do we get out of that fear? How do we recalibrate? How do we protect ourselves? That is the biggest challenge right now that I'm having.
