Ashleigh Glasscock is a Senior Research Analyst at the Greater Nashville Regional Council, where she specializes in geospatial analysis and data visualization to support regional planning initiatives across Middle Tennessee. With over six years at GNRC, Ashleigh plays a critical role in analyzing complex datasets related to demographics, land development, infrastructure, and environmental resources. Her work helps guide data-driven decisions that shape public policy, economic growth, and community planning in the region. She is also a key contributor to GNRC’s Open Data and Mapping Portal, which makes vital regional information accessible to the public and stakeholders.
Ashleigh holds a master’s degree in Geospatial Analysis from East Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the College of Charleston. Her background spans academic research, environmental consulting, and public sector analysis, with expertise in GIS, cartography, and spatial programming languages like Python and SQL. Recognized for her technical skill and collaborative approach, she has earned multiple honors, including GNRC’s Employee of the Year. Ashleigh’s career reflects a commitment to using science and technology to improve quality of life, ensure sustainable development, and make data understandable and actionable for all.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being raised by a strong single mom who always encouraged me to reach higher, work hard, and never settle for less than I’m capable of.

The cliche, do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this field is: dream big—why not you? You belong in the room, so take up space and go after what you want.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Technology is constantly changing and advancing, meaning I'm not doing the same thing day after day and am given an opportunity to learn on a daily basis.
