About Ashley
I have been practicing law for 10 years and just recently left the practice of law to become a full-time professor, which I've been doing for about one year now. I started out in private practice at Shipman and Goodwin in Hartford, Connecticut, where I practiced employment litigation and labor relations law. I defended employers in discrimination claims and represented employers in union negotiations, negotiating collective bargaining agreements. After about four and a half to five years, I decided to take a job with the state of Connecticut and began practicing energy law, advocating for energy policies in Connecticut that pushed for affordable energy in the state and for clean energy. I started out as a staff attorney there, and then I was promoted to be the legal director of the energy bureau in the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. In that role, I oversaw the legal department, oversaw our management of litigation, and oversaw our management of dockets that were before the administrative agency that oversaw the utilities. I did that for about 3 years, and then I moved on to higher education. Now I teach as a professor of legal studies at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. I teach civil litigation, civil procedures, and I also teach an introductory survey course which covers all areas of law for undergraduate students who might be interested in going to law school. I'm loving it so far - it's been wonderful. I love teaching because it brings a new vigor to the law. I have the opportunity to share my love of the law with students, and I have the opportunity to shape and mold them every single day in the classroom, which has been extremely rewarding.
