Her Story
About Bithiah
I've been in food service for 15 years, and 10 of those years I've dedicated to tech as well. Currently, I'm an entrepreneur with my own business doing customized wig creation - I make wigs from scratch, clip-in extensions, and I have clothes available for sale for women. I'm transitioning into tech fully because food service isn't a good fit for me anymore since I'm a single mother with twin boys. My own identity theft case is what inspired me to go into tech, because I felt like there were so many loopholes that leave our information unprotected. I felt like in order to help other people and protect them from things such as romance scams or friendship scams or just everyday scams, it was time for me to share my story and help other people know how to protect their information on a higher level. I'm about to enter the bachelor's program for cybersecurity at ECPI University starting April 11th. Since I still have my children full-time and don't have childcare right now, I normally work third shift overnight - once I tend to them and get them in bed, that's when I do most of my work along with my coursework for tech.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For me, honestly, it would be to stay disciplined as much as possible, and try and stay focused as much as possible, because when it comes to tech, there's a lot of tons of information, and it's always a constant learning situation. So, for me, I feel like one of the best things you can do is stay disciplined, focused, and work on time management, because it's really intensive.
