Her Story
About Cheyenne
I've been working in retail pharmacy for 13 years, all with Walgreens, which is the only taxable job I've ever held. I started as a cashier to make gas money for community college, initially pursuing nursing before realizing it wasn't for me. My boss saw potential in me for the pharmacy, and once I started working there, I knew I had found my calling. I completed the necessary coursework at community college and applied to pharmacy schools across Tennessee, eventually getting into a very prestigious private university that I didn't think I would be accepted to. Now, as a pharmacy manager for just under 2 years, my focus is on making sure we take the best possible care of our patients, especially in an area that's kind of a healthcare desert. I work to ensure my team has all the tools necessary to work at the top of their licenses, and I'm particularly passionate about training up technicians and creating an environment of open, respectful, and productive communication. I do really good work with Medicare patients, helping them manage their medications, and I've been at the top of the board several times for that work, as well as for immunizations. But my biggest accomplishment is the environment I provide for both my patients and my team.

Ten minutes with Cheyenne
01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, there have really been a couple people along the way that helped me when they gained nothing from it, and when it was really not convenient for them to do so. That's been a big part of it. I think it's been coupled with my drive, for sure, and kind of my taking the opportunity when given it, but that being said, the opportunities were absolutely given to me by people that owed me nothing.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Honestly, I think the biggest thing that has ever stood out to me is kind of just in the face of trials, when you don't think that you would be able to, or that you are about to kind of add additional doubt to yourself and use that as an excuse to not go for it, because they probably won't pick you, they just might. So, I think just that's something that I think of often, is they just might.
