Elena Scofield, CMIP® CLTC
Elena Scofield is the founder and owner of Scofield Insurance Consulting, LLC, a firm she established in 2015 to deliver highly personalized insurance solutions with a focus on the senior market. With more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare and insurance industry, she specializes in guiding clients age 65 and older through the complexities of Medicare, while also providing comprehensive coverage options including hospital indemnity, cancer, heart attack, dental, and vision plans. Serving clients across Connecticut and in multiple states, Elena has built a client base of over a thousand individuals who trust her to navigate both their healthcare needs and financial considerations with precision and care.
What sets Elena apart is her deeply relationship-driven and holistic approach to client service. She takes the time to understand each individual beyond their policies—learning about their doctors, prescriptions, and even their emotional well-being. Especially during challenging times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, she recognized the growing impact of isolation and mental health concerns among seniors, and responded with empathy, consistent outreach, and genuine support. Her thoughtful touches—such as handwritten cards and ongoing communication—have led many clients to view her not just as an advisor, but as an extension of their family. Her business has grown significantly through referrals from satisfied clients and trusted professional partners who value her patience, integrity, and personalized service model.
Before launching her own firm, Elena built an award-winning career with leading organizations including Aetna, WellCare, Kaiser Permanente, and Access Health Connecticut, where she was recognized as a top producer and industry expert. While she thrived in corporate environments, she ultimately chose to pursue independence to better serve her clients without limitations—allowing her to offer a wide range of products tailored to each individual’s unique needs and budget. A recognized voice in her field, Elena has been featured in publications such as Forbes, New York Weekly, and Women’s World, and continues to advocate for Medicare beneficiaries while growing her brand through strategic marketing and social media engagement. Her work is driven by a genuine passion to help others, ensuring every client receives not just coverage, but confidence and peace of mind.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my work ethic that my dad and mom showed me as a kid. My father told me, well, you like pretty things, you like pretty clothes, you want a car? Go to work. I got a babysitting job at age 14, and then at age 16 I worked at Stop and Shop. I always had money in my account because I worked hard. I learned that at a very young age - nothing is given to you, you have to work for it. This past annual open enrollment, I was working 13-14 hour days due to a lot of disruption in my field because many plans were exiting Connecticut. I was just dedicated to helping as many clients as possible. I put the clients in the forefront - they were the most important. Some days I would miss my lunch and just work until my eyes were fried from the computer. It's work ethic plus lessons learned from when I was a kid at age 14. I learned that at a very young age, and I taught my kids the same thing. It's also my faith in God - I just pressed into God and said, okay, you brought me this far, show me the way, and I just did it one year at a time, one step at a time.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I ever received came from my father, who taught me early on that if you want something in life, you have to work for it. Nothing is handed to you—you earn it through dedication, consistency, and effort. That mindset has stayed with me throughout my career and continues to drive how I approach both my work and my goals.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to work hard and genuinely care about the people you serve. This industry is not just about policies—it’s about people’s lives, health, and peace of mind. Take the time to personalize your service, build real relationships, and be patient. When you lead with integrity and compassion, success will follow.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There are several challenges in the industry today, including plan disruptions when insurance carriers exit markets, the intense demands during enrollment periods, and the growing mental health needs among seniors. Additionally, working within a single-product corporate structure can be limiting. However, there are also great opportunities—especially through rebranding, social media engagement, and expanding outreach. I also see a meaningful opportunity to grow support systems through nonprofit initiatives like Elena’s Angels, which aim to help vulnerable clients who need extra care and advocacy.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me are empathy, faith, and a strong work ethic. I believe in treating every client with compassion and taking a holistic approach to their needs, not just focusing on insurance but on their overall well-being. Staying true to these values allows me to provide personalized care and build lasting, trust-based relationships both professionally and personally.
