Eugenia Rogers
Eugenia is a dedicated Adult Literacy Program Associate at Global Scholars Academy, where she plays a vital role in empowering adult learners to strengthen their reading, writing, and educational foundations. Deeply rooted in her Durham community, she is committed to carrying forward the city’s rich history of resilience and diversity. Her passion for literacy is also personal—shaped by her own family’s experiences and her belief that education creates pathways to opportunity, confidence, and long-term stability.
Alongside her work in literacy, Eugenia is a powerful advocate for people living with HIV, with a special focus on supporting women. Since returning to the field in 2022, she has quickly re-established herself as a respected voice in HIV education, stigma reduction, and community engagement. She serves as Chair of the Duke CFAR Community Collaborative Council, collaborates on research initiatives with academic partners, and speaks at conferences including the North Carolina Addiction Specialist Conference. Her advocacy is fueled both by professional expertise and lived experience, making her a compassionate and influential leader in the HIV community.
Eugenia holds a master’s degree in Library Science from North Carolina Central University, where she developed a strong grounding in education, research, and community service. Over the years, she has earned recognition for her work, including being honored as one of the 20 recipients of the Leading Ladies Society Award for long-term survivors making meaningful community impact. Whether empowering adult learners, guiding tutors, supporting families, or fighting for equitable healthcare access, Eugenia remains driven by her deep commitment to serve, uplift, and educate those around her.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to simply loving what I do—my passion for serving my community drives me to give my best every day.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value balance, creativity, and personal well-being in both my work and personal life. I prioritize staying grounded through yoga, find joy and connection exploring vineyards, and embrace creativity and self-expression through ice skating and theater. These experiences enrich my life and help me bring a centered, compassionate, and open-minded approach to everything I do.
