Her Story

About Genevieve

In 2024, my brother, my only sibling, was involved in a police officer shooting where he executed a police officer when he was being evicted in Sheridan, Wyoming. My mother was sent to prison for allegedly providing firearms to a felon, even though he had upwards of 17 stolen firearms in his possession. What led me to this place is obviously my trauma and my grief, and trying to channel that into something positive. I founded my own brand, Unforgiven, to use a portion of proceeds to help individuals who are facing eviction and addiction. It's incredibly difficult - my mom is still in prison, and I've had to go through things that nobody should ever have to go through. I'm trying to help people get access to resources and bring awareness. I'm very active in the beauty community as well, and I started getting into making content and makeup as a creative outlet. I'm writing a book about all of this. My core message is that people are so much more than their addiction and the things that they do while they're in deep addiction. It can happen to anybody, and when people are in that state of mind, they are not themselves. They are not their worst day. He was so much more than his worst day, and I will never give up. I will never stop fighting for him.

Ten minutes with Genevieve

01What do you attribute your success to?

My mom is still look really good work ethic and me and I learned early on that nobody’s gonna hand you anything you have to work really hard for it that doesn’t mean we don’t need to hand up because life is not like the movies.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t let what other people think dictate what you do in your life. Someone always has something to say about a life they have never lived or experienced.

If you need a break, take one. But don’t quit.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say to her, if you see something, say something. And don't judge people - you never know what hand you're gonna get dealt next in life.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest obstacles I’m having right now is exposure and finding opportunities

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are transparency, boundaries, loyalty, family, respect, and compassion. This is so much bigger than me. I want to honor people and show that they are so much more than their addiction and the things that they do while they're in deep addiction. People are not their worst day. It can happen to anybody, and when people are in that state of mind, they are not themselves. A helping hand could change the trajectory of a lot of things.
