Her Story
About Gigi
I've always had an outgoing personality, and I originally went into hospitality doing event sales, helping people plan all types of events like weddings, baby showers, birthdays, and celebrations. That role made me organized, able to plan ahead, and develop really good people-facing skills while staying on top of everything to provide a great experience from beginning to end. Now, as a customer success manager for an AI company, a lot of those skills are transitional. I get on calls with clients, meet people at conferences, and bring them a good experience from first introductions through onboarding for our product and beyond. I focus on nurturing those relationships, and just like in events where success came from repeat customers who had such a good experience, in the AI and product space it goes hand in hand. When clients have a good experience, they provide referrals or add additional services, and that's because you're providing intentional, genuine help for what they're looking for and solving their problems. My expertise is really in customer experience and advocating for clients. I can see and interpret how customers are experiencing the product or service, then translate that back to the product team or operational team to ensure good communication and overall delivery of a good experience. I've always been able to keep really good relationships no matter what field I was in, and that has brought me to my next opportunities. Making good impressions with people has led to more job opportunities, more referrals, and building meaningful connections. I didn't go to university - it was really more about jumping in on opportunities early on and learning from the ground up, starting at the bottom and working my way up. That gives you the most perspective in a role and ensures you're never too good to do any part of the job. I've found myself naturally good at being customer-facing, and I could have a career out of it while jumping into different industries. The AI side was very new, exciting, and unknown, and jumping into something unknown gives a lot of learning opportunity. For someone who likes to stay busy and always be trying something new, there's something different to learn every week, and that's exciting to me.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the fact that I've always been able to keep really good relationships, no matter what field I was in, because that has always brought me to my next opportunity. Even if it was a one-off introduction, I feel like I've always made good impressions with people, and that has led to more job opportunities, more referrals, and just making friends. Managing relationships throughout the last decade really does feel like it paid off, even though it was genuine intention and I didn't think it would get me to where I am today. I reflect on that a lot, so it does feel like an achievement for me.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to just say yes to any opportunity that falls in your lap, especially when you're not really sure what you want to do yet. You don't know what you want to do, but you'll figure out what you don't want to do by trying new things. And especially when you start a new job, be the yes man out of the group, because it's just going to take you further, faster. I think that's true, in my opinion, because I literally did that.
