Q

What do you attribute your success to?

Haylie’s mother Dr. Elicia Brannon-Little has heavily influenced her life, and I quote “A goal for the future is great. A detailed plan to make it happen is even better. However, my goals and plans would have just been dreams without my mom telling me I could achieve them.” In addition to her grandmother, Charlene Brannon instilling a hard work ethic at an early age working at her grandmother's store. Last and certainly not least, her aunt, Marvinette Ponder was a strong leader in a male dominating industry and the dedication seen by these three women have shaped Haylie and attributed to her success.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received was, “You can do anything,” Haylie truly believes this to be truly, thus constantly looking for ways to make things happen instead of accepting obstacles.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Utilize your resources! I understand that statement appears to be a given, however, I have worked for many companies that underutilized their resources. Additionally, dont be afraid of asking questions and getting involved. I have had people say my work ethic is too much, but it has also allowed me to get to where I am today.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge I’ve faced in my field has been learning to set boundaries and not overextend myself by saying yes to everything. While I do enjoy the work that I do I also know that I need to say "no" at times. In the coming year I am looking to follow colleagues for ways to elevate the physical demands of me being in person while still being involved with the task and process. I see opportunities in educating myself. I can be a better resource to my company and myself if I further my education and I see opportunities for growth with that.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

At work I value quality over quantity. While I like to get my work done quickly, I also want to make sure it is the best output that I can provide. In my personal life I value my personal relationships especially because they accept the number of hours I put into my job and do not hold that against me. Lastly, I like the simple things sometimes just walking outside to feel the breeze is all I need for a reset.
