Her Story

About Heather

I am the head of quality for a premium dietary supplement manufacturer with a legacy in northern New Hampshire. I've been with this organization for 2 years and have been in quality assurance in a leadership capacity for 12 years. In my role, I oversee internal and external manufacturing quality, oversee our laboratories, and ensure a premium and consistent consumer experience. One of my most significant achievements was relocating our Center of Operations last year into a facility twice the size, on time and with no interruption to production. I'm passionate about health and wellness, and I really enjoy working specifically for this company because it intersects my passion about wellness with my passion for real food and agriculture. I hold a Master's of Science in Soil and Crop Science, which I earned in 2018, and a bachelor's degree in Botany. I also have certifications in HACCP, PCQI, Internal Auditor Training, and OSHA 30. I am a member of the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), and I work for a certified B Corp that gives 1% back to the planet.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Heather

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to an expectation and quality of the products that I purchase and give to my family, and I expect that in the products that I make as well, professionally. I hold myself to the same high standards for the products I create at work as I do for what I bring into my own home for my family.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is being open to coaching and being open to the discomfort of learning new skills and challenging old ideas. Growth often comes from stepping outside your comfort zone and being willing to question what you thought you knew.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be prepared to have your ideas challenged, and be prepared to either change your mind or have the data to back up those ideas. In this field, you need to be flexible enough to adapt when presented with new information, but also confident enough to stand behind your positions when you have solid evidence to support them.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think that the changing regulatory landscape can make innovation challenging. The industry is constantly evolving with new regulations, and navigating these changes while still trying to innovate and develop new products presents a significant challenge.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Trust and transparency are most important to me in both my work and personal life, along with data-driven decision-making. I believe in being open and honest in all my interactions, and I rely on solid data and evidence to guide the decisions I make, whether professionally or personally.
