Her Story
About Jenna
I come into the office and check emails, but I'm really on the phones, talking to people and building relationships. Our motto at my company is connecting people to work that matters, and that's my biggest focus - I'm trying to find somebody else their new career move. Part of my job is talking to people and trying to see, do you want something new? What are you looking for? Here's what I have available, and just finding that next step for them that they might not have thought to take, or maybe they did think about it and applied. I don't really have a typical day-to-day, but I would say the biggest thing is just connecting with people and figuring out their next career move with them on what works best. You meet a lot of different people, and you don't think that you're changing lives, but there have been several people that have expressed gratitude for me reaching out to them, or taking their call and explaining the process and finding them this new role, and they love it. Some have said, I've never thought of myself doing this, but here I am, and I absolutely love it - I want to dig deeper into this career, possibly get licensure with it, or go to schools. It can change people's lives. Not all the time, but definitely puts them in that setting where it's a new perspective, and maybe they decide to move forward with something else.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just find that door and stick your foot in it. You have to start at entry level, and that's often what you have to do. I mean, it's very hard to start in the middle ladder or upper level. A lot of times, in the recruiting world, they're gonna have you start at the very bottom, but if you put in the work, if you put in the effort, you are gonna rise quickly. And it is a lot of work, you know, have to put a lot of effort into it, but the outcome and the place that you get to be, and where you get to grow to, is out of this world. So, start at the bottom, and then work your way up. And you will get there.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Honestly, it is having two separate identities where it's like the mom and then work, but then sometimes they kind of interchange with each other, and so that's what I'm figuring out right now. I'm never not a mom - I'm always in mom mode at one shape or form, but there's also the work me that I need to put all my focus into work. Babies have doctor's appointments, or babies get sick, and so it's kind of like taking one hat off and putting the other hat on, or wearing both hats at the same time. That's been the biggest challenge for me, but I've got people in my corner. My manager RJ is a parent as well, so they've really made me feel like, if you need the time, take the time. If you need to be mom, we'll handle what we need to handle at work. So, it's been very nice to have that team behind me, so I don't feel like I'm slacking in one job versus the other.
