Her Story

About Kate

I work with Providence Athletics, specifically creating social media content for the Providence men's and women's hockey teams and the women's softball team. I've been in social media marketing and content creation for around 7 years now, and my main area of expertise is photography and videography. I first started out working with a boutique called The Hive in my town, doing social media marketing for them. After that, I started to freelance and created my own personal company where I create social media content for a bunch of different athletic teams. I started out with my town's team, Winchester High School, doing their lacrosse games, and then when I got to college, I started doing social media marketing for the teams I work for now. On game days, I'm typically working for about 5 to 6 hours during the game, quickly editing, shooting, and creating graphics. The editing process post-game takes a little bit of time, but I'm doing that right away and uploading everything I create as fast as I possibly can, but in the most effective way as well. My most notable professional achievement so far is probably my Providence Friars hockey reel that I created last year, which was really rewarding and just kind of a reflection of all the work I did that year.

Ten minutes with Kate

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say just the push from my parents to always keep trying new things and always being the best version of myself. I would definitely say my parents have always pushed me, and I also want to note my grandparents as well. They've always been super supportive. My whole family has, but them specifically, they've always cheered me on, rooted for me, and given me the push that I need to keep going. Even if it wasn't working out at some times, there were lows in content creation, like not being able to maybe create the best things, but to always keep going. That's definitely really helped me to get to where I am today - their contributions and support.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is definitely to always follow up, always continue to network, and always push yourself to be the best possible version of who you think you can be, because it does take you a long way. Always make sure to build on connections, and don't be afraid to really reach out to people. Again, just making connections and networking - that's definitely gotten me to where I am today.
