Macey Alderman
Macey Alderman is a dedicated Raptor Specialist I at The Peregrine Fund’s World Center for Birds of Prey in Boise, Idaho. With over four years of experience working with wildlife, she has developed a deep expertise in the care, training, and rehabilitation of birds of prey. Her role involves handling a variety of raptor species, performing medical treatments such as bandaging and fluid administration, and maintaining husbandry practices including beak coping and talon trimming. In addition to her hands-on work, Macey is skilled in public speaking and educational outreach, sharing her knowledge and passion for raptors with audiences of all ages.
Prior to joining The Peregrine Fund, Macey gained valuable experience as an Environmental Educator at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, where she cared for avian ambassadors and led educational programs and public outreach initiatives. She also spent over three years assisting at the May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, further honing her skills in animal husbandry and wildlife care. Macey’s career is built on a foundation of practical experience combined with her academic studies, giving her a comprehensive understanding of avian anatomy, behavior, and rehabilitation techniques.
Macey earned her degree from Lees-McRae College, where she focused on wildlife biology with a concentration in wildlife rehabilitation. Her passion for animals began early, demonstrated through her involvement in school activities and leadership roles, such as serving as captain of her varsity soccer team. Known for her dedication, professionalism, and ability to connect with both animals and people, Macey continues to make a meaningful impact in the field of raptor conservation and wildlife education.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life center around balance, connection, and purpose. I stay active through skiing and outdoor activities, and I deeply enjoy spending time with my pets—including my parrot, cats, tarantula, and gecko—which reflects my love for animals and wildlife. Family support and travel are also central to my life, allowing me to maintain meaningful relationships and broaden my perspective.
In my career, I am goal-oriented and driven by a clear vision for growth and impact. I am passionate about helping wildlife and making a positive difference in the lives of animals and the communities around me. Bringing this sense of purpose and care into everything I do allows me to approach challenges with dedication, empathy, and enthusiasm.
