Mary Reasonover
Mary Reasonover-Toledo is an accomplished entrepreneur and business leader with over 25 years of experience spanning customer service, healthcare, and business management. She began her professional journey at Kmart, where she developed a strong foundation in customer service that continues to shape her leadership approach today. Her early career in healthcare, where she initially pursued nursing, provided valuable insight into organizational structure, professionalism, and the operational complexity of large institutions. After nearly a decade in the field, Mary transitioned her focus to business, earning her Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources from National University and building a well-rounded background across both small and large organizations.
In 2001, Mary co-founded her first business with her husband, marking the start of a highly successful entrepreneurial journey in a specialized niche within the automotive repair industry. She currently serves as Vice President of Business Development at DentTime, LLC, and owns and operates Bumper Time, both of which provide high-quality, customer-focused mobile auto paint and dent repair services throughout San Diego County. Under her leadership, these businesses have earned an exceptional reputation, including more than 1,000 five-star reviews on Yelp and strong ratings on Google. She also expanded her impact globally as CEO of DentTrainer, LLC, delivering industry training and expertise on an international scale. Beyond the automotive industry, Mary continues to innovate and expand her entrepreneurial portfolio. She is the Founder and CEO of Trealee8, LLC, a botanical skincare brand inspired by her personal journey and named after a combination of her daughter’s name, her own middle name, and the number eight. The brand focuses on clean, plant-based formulations designed to promote hydration, radiance, and long-term skin health. A recipient of the prestigious “PDR Person of the Year” award at the Mobile Tech Expo in 2024, Mary is recognized for breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field. What do you attribute your success to?
I am actually proud of what I have achieved and what I have offered my community. People don't always know the magnitude or the impact we did in our community, because back in the old days, when people needed auto repair, they just went to the auto repair shop or body shop. But we offer an alternative for that kind of repair to kind of save them money and at the same time help them with their problems. I've had customers say, look, I'm on a budget but I want to repair this, or I don't want my car diminished in value. So they praise us all the time because we found a solution to their problem. That, to me, is what I'm proud of, because it's very rewarding to actually help people, and it's rewarding to know that I have made a difference in people's lives. From the healthcare profession to now doing the PDR business, I'm now solving and helping other people with their problems, but in a different kind of state. Still to this day, they let us know, they come back to us, and especially the older generation where they don't know the niche or they don't know what our industry can do for them as far as providing solutions to their problems. The second thing would be how I raised my children. I was juggling when my two older adults now, when they were little, because they're only like a year and a half apart, so it's like having twins while I'm building the business with my husband. There were times that I would sleep really late or early in the morning, like 2 or 3 AM, just to get the job done or the paperwork done, and then I was worried about raising them properly and the right way with good morals, values, discipline, and principle. At the same time, I was worried about building the business. So trying to juggle with both, being a mother, I had to focus on both to make sure that I come out of it with good results successfully, because I'm a result-driven kind of person. Now that we are 20 years after, I achieved both, and I'm like, wow, I did that. Back then I was like, okay, if I were to do this, what's on the other side? I can only preview what the future is, but I have to set the foundation and then hope that if I go in this path, it would be good after that many years to see the fruit of that hard work and the strategic planning of how to manage both the family side and business.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that it’s possible to build the life and career you truly want through determination and perseverance. I’ve always valued higher education and worked hard to pay for it myself, all while raising my two young children and running successful businesses. That experience reinforced for me that with discipline, focus, and a strong sense of purpose, you can achieve your professional goals without compromising your personal responsibilities.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to remember that you do not have to choose between building a successful, fulfilling career and having a meaningful personal life. It is absolutely possible to pursue work you are passionate about while also being present as a mother, a wife, and a positive influence in your community. Stay focused on your goals, trust your ability to create balance, and use your platform and success to uplift others—especially those who are less fortunate—so that your impact extends far beyond your professional achievements.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is gaining the visibility and exposure necessary to establish a new business in a competitive market. As I am in the early stages of building my company, creating brand awareness, reaching the right audience, and differentiating my services are critical priorities. At the same time, this presents a meaningful opportunity to leverage modern marketing strategies, digital platforms, and strategic partnerships to build a strong foundation, connect authentically with clients, and position my business for long-term growth and success.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
It's very rewarding to actually help people, and it's rewarding to know that I have made a difference in people's lives. I realized when I was in my early 20s that, wow, I really enjoy helping people. From the healthcare profession to now doing the PDR business, I'm solving and helping other people with their problems, but in a different kind of state. What I wanted to do is to help other children, like an orphanage in other countries that are less fortunate. I did a fundraising, created a shirt for my industry, then the money that I raised, I brought it to the Philippines and donated it and gave it to the person in charge firsthand, because I didn't want to just hand them the check and not know if it got to the people. I'm thinking of donating some of the proceeds from my skincare company to Rady Children's Hospital, because I used to work at Children's Hospital, and I'm thinking of donating some of the proceeds there. I want to help the children who are sick and don't have the financial resources, or their family doesn't have the financial resources. Creating memories with the kids and traveling around the world with them is important to me. After I'm done with the business, I'm still working because now I have to focus and put my attention to the children to make sure that they are raised properly.
