Her Story

About Natalia

I've been with Liqui Moly USA for a year and a half, and I found this opportunity through LinkedIn. My role started as executive assistant to our CEO, but it has grown into so much more. I support our Director of Human Resources, Mariah Avery, in our small but mighty HR department - it's just the two of us. I'm also the office manager for our Irvine, California office. Event planning is another big part of what I do. I recently organized our national sales meeting in Dallas, Texas. Last year, we held it in Germany, where our headquarters is based. What I love about this job is the multitasking nature of it all. I'm constantly busy, but I really thrive from everything I'm doing. I spend a lot of time with executives because I support our CEO and I'm part of important meetings. I'm often in the room when important decisions are made or discussed. I realized how important it is, even for my CEO, to feel that support from me - to have a person there to support them and even help out sometimes with advice. I was very happy to receive the team member spotlight of the month this month, in June. That was a really great recognition. I feel very honored because I try not to talk about what I'm doing, but I think doing is more important than just talking. I honestly care for the team, and I think the management really feels that.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I'm a very energetic person, and I'm very responsible. From being a kid, my parents always allowed me to do what I wanted, but I always feel this responsibility, especially if I work with a group of people. I think it's all connected. Yes, we are a company of almost 100 people here in the United States, and I know all those 100 people, almost. I know them very well now. I think it's so important for us to just work together and that the communication keeps moving. When I get up and I see people have reached out to me with questions, because in HR you get a lot of personal time with each employee, I think just understanding that we're not just machines working, we're all here for each other. I honestly care for the team. And I think the management really kind of feels that. I was very happy to receive the team member spotlight of the month this month, in June. That was a really great recognition. I feel very honored because I try not to kind of talk about, oh, I did this, I'm doing so many things, look at me. I think doing is more important than just talking. I'm happy to be a part of working with each other.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say, just how I work, I think honesty, just being honest, even in the interview process. That's, I think, the scariest part for all the young women when they want to get the job and they're interviewing. Be honest and be who you are. Our company is all about people. And sometimes when they're hiring you, they're actually hiring the person. Yes, they're looking for a certain set of skills, experience, education, but I think in our world right now, you learn so much on the job. You just have to be open, confident, honest. It's not as scary as it looks, and I think when people see you as you are, you just thrive in that place. That's what my experience has been in this company. I spend a lot of time with executives because I support our CEO and I'm part of important meetings. I'm quite often in the room when important decisions are made or discussed. In my position, of course, keeping confidentiality, being open, being able to support and help in any way you can. The executives make all the decisions, but I realized how important, even for my CEO, is to feel that support from me. Sometimes they need advice too. It's the executives making very big decisions, but they're also people, and I think we all need to understand that in the workplace, that we're not just working and spare. It's all about communication and just being there for each other.
