Her Story
About Odalys
I earned my degree from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in finance and worked for corporate companies managing their balance sheets and profit and loss for over 20 years. But I was never really attuned to my own perspective until I had financial difficulty in 2020. That's when I realized I really needed to get my situation in order, and once I did that and was introduced to the business platform, I realized I wasn't alone and there were so many families that needed financial education. Now I'm building a national agency that spans from Oregon to Florida, helping families grow their savings, get free from debt, protect their assets, and preserve their wealth. I also opened a kids' business where I teach financial literacy through books, workshops, and other avenues because I realized there's an epidemic - we're not teaching our kids how money really works. My goal is for financial literacy to be taught in schools, at least in the state of California within five years, starting with middle school and elementary because that's really where you start making the concepts stick. Everybody knows how to spend money, but they don't know how to manage it.

Ten minutes with Odalys
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to never giving up and just constantly staying on the grind. Every no leads you to a yes, and early on I learned not to take it personally. It might not be for everyone at the time, but I just never give up and keep going, continuing one foot in front of the other. That mentality has led me to be able to grow this agency and build something that's going to outlive me and create generational wealth for the community.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say find support, because success leaves clues. I serve on a non-profit women's business organization where we mentor entrepreneurs, and I really feel like it's important that you find someone that's successful in the business and get mentorship in order to find your success. There's no such thing as balance - that's a misnomer. It's just focusing on what the top three priorities are for that month or that year and trying to achieve them. There's always going to be things that fall by the waistline, but also use leverage wherever possible to be able to accomplish more.
