Her Story

About Shereese

I have always had a strong desire to help people, which led me to become a nurse. I started as a CNA and progressed to become an LPN, a role I've held for 22 years. After years at the bedside, I found myself wanting to know what makes healthcare systems work behind the scenes. This curiosity led me to transition into teaching people how to use the electronic medical record system at Robins Air Force Base. My work covers such a wide range - I teach everyone from researchers to doctors to nurses, and I can teach just about everything related to the medical record system. I conduct classes all over the United States remotely and have even had the pleasure of teaching classes in Europe. Being selected to teach internationally was really exciting because I thought, they must think I'm one of the great ones for them to find me. My most notable achievement so far is being considered the subject matter expert on the Atlas to PathNet system, where I train the trainers. While I love what I do now, I still do a little home care here and there because I miss the bedside aspect of nursing.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to always move forward and keep moving. I have taken that advice and made it my own - I always try to continue to move forward and arm myself with knowledge. I'm never just being stagnant. If I'm doing something, I'm gonna learn everything about it. To me, that's what moving forward means - you can't really move forward until you know just about everything about the subject that you've covered. So you have to keep digging, you have to keep digging, and keep moving, keep moving. That's probably the best advice I ever got.
