Stephanie Pittman is an accomplished attorney and legal operations professional with over 24 years of experience navigating complex corporate, aerospace, and construction law matters. She began her career as a public defender, handling more than 55 jury trials with an 81% win rate, before transitioning to contract administration at Bombardier Aerospace. There, she developed deep expertise in aerospace contracts, intellectual property, and technical agreements, setting the stage for her specialization in mergers and acquisitions.

After leading high-profile programs at Spirit AeroSystems, including the Airbus A350 program and multiple acquisitions of work packages, Stephanie joined Amazon Corporate through Boston Consulting Group, managing contractual construction efforts for approximately 200 million square feet of North American distribution facilities. During this period, she identified critical roofing material shortages, helped draft the AWS roofing specification, and prevented $850 million in potential force majeure claims, demonstrating her ability to combine legal expertise with operational innovation.

Today, Stephanie serves as the founder of Pittman Law Office, where she operates as a fractional General Counsel and legal consultant for aerospace startups, major roofing installers, and other clients. Through her firm, she provides strategic guidance in aerospace contracts, IP, mergers and acquisitions, construction law, and SaaS integration, all while maintaining flexibility to be present for her family. Her career reflects a commitment to curiosity, adaptability, and delivering impactful legal solutions across industries.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to staying curious, open to new experiences, and willing to step beyond traditional boundaries. My passion for learning has allowed me to apply knowledge from technical fields in innovative ways, while finding joy and fulfillment in the work I do.

I’m also committed to mentoring young women, encouraging them to remain curious, embrace opportunities, and never feel confined by conventional “lanes.”

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that I can and will achieve my goals through hard work—and never take “no” for an answer. Being told to “stay in my lane” didn’t limit me; instead, it became fuel. I used it as motivation to push boundaries, explore new opportunities, and broaden my career in ways I never imagined.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is simple: you can build a successful career doing what you love and be a mom too. Don’t let anyone tell you to “stay in your lane”—I’ve always taken that as a challenge to explore beyond conventional paths.

Be open to new experiences, stay curious, and follow the paths that truly serve you. I never took the traditional law firm route, and that willingness to forge my own way has allowed me to gain diverse, fulfilling experiences across aerospace, construction, roofing, and now as a fractional general counsel.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges right now is balancing the demands of being available for everyone who needs guidance or support. In my field, material and supply-chain shortages—especially in roofing—have also created significant hurdles, affecting construction timelines during COVID.

At the same time, there are exciting opportunities. Innovations in commercial roofing and construction technology, such as robotic induction welding, and owner-led problem solving in supply chains, are opening new ways to work more efficiently and creatively in the industry.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me center on family, service, and meaningful work. As a mom of four, being present for my children—nurturing their curiosity, teaching them about the world, and guiding them to be thoughtful and engaged—is a top priority. At the same time, I strive to stay challenged professionally and pursue work that excites me.

Community stewardship is equally important. I teach my children the value of helping others through small acts of service, like shoveling a neighbor’s walkway or assisting with holiday decorations, and I lead by example in my professional life, providing legal support to those in need without charge whenever possible. These values of family, curiosity, and service guide both my personal and professional life.
