Toya Wallace
Visual artist, educator, and community advocate passionate about using art as a tool for creative expression, personal growth, and social connection. I currently work as a Visual Art Instructor, teaching engaging art classes to residents in assisted living communities as well as private students. My classes include a variety of mediums such as collage, drawing, acrylic painting, watercolor painting, jewelry making, and sculpture, creating opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities to explore creativity and artistic confidence.
In addition to teaching, I am the founder and artist behind Artful Visions By Toya, where I create original artwork and develop projects that emphasize artistic storytelling, community engagement, and social impact. My work focuses on fostering creativity while building meaningful connections through visual art.
My academic background includes graduate studies at Duke University Graduate School, where I developed strong research, coordination, and analytical skills. During my time at Duke, I also served as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, supporting student learning and academic collaboration.
Earlier in my career, I worked with the Duke University Talent Identification Program, where I gained extensive experience in program coordination, student engagement, and educational support.
Through both my artistic and educational work, I am committed to expanding access to creative opportunities and inspiring others to express their stories through art.
