Her Story

About Amanda

Amanda Nicholson is a nonprofit consultant, copywriter, and email marketing strategist based in the United States, with over four and a half years of experience helping nonprofits and mission-driven businesses amplify their impact. She specializes in crafting email campaigns and website copy that turn supporters into ambassadors and help organizations stand out in crowded digital spaces. With a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Teaching from Lipscomb University, Amanda brings a unique combination of storytelling, psychology, and strategy to her work, ensuring that every message connects with the right audience at the right time.

Before transitioning into marketing, Amanda spent three years as a special education teacher for kindergarten through second grade and an additional year teaching kindergarten at a farm school. During that time, she also volunteered with nonprofits and contributed to educational programs, gaining early experience in mission-driven work. She shifted her career when her daughter was born, seeking a way to combine meaningful work with flexibility at home. The move into email marketing and copywriting proved a natural fit, as many of the skills she honed in teaching—communication, relationship-building, and audience engagement—translated seamlessly to helping nonprofits grow their donor bases and achieve their missions.

Passionate about social impact, Amanda volunteers her expertise across causes such as animal welfare, education, economic empowerment, and humanitarian relief. Her work is guided by integrity, compassion, and ethical marketing practices. From strategic email campaigns to accessible website copy, she empowers organizations to cultivate long-term relationships with supporters, streamline communications, and maximize fundraising impact. Amanda’s approach combines heart-led storytelling with actionable strategy, helping nonprofits and mission-driven businesses move from frazzled to funded while maintaining a focus on community and lasting impact.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amanda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I've had a few mentors who have really made a big impression on me. I participated in a coaching group with Krystle Church, another teacher-turned-copywriter. I've also done programs with someone local named Tiffany Napper. She's been a big mentor. Those are the two main women who have really helped me along my transition and professional journey.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would definitely have a conversation and just ask her what kind of work she is looking for within that space. What makes her want to go into that space? Because typically, I've noticed that these are people who really care about something and want their work to reflect that. So, making sure that's some kind of passion she has that she wants to pursue and fulfill, and really work towards the nonprofit's mission. And just also let her know that in the space, there are a lot of people who say things like, " This is heart work, you don't need to have a fulfilling life outside of this work," and things like that. And remind her that's not true. You can have both. That's a hot topic within this space, and I will remind people that you can have meaningful work and a meaningful life outside of that work.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My special education role developed my interpersonal and communication skills through interactions with parents, students, paraprofessionals, administrators, and service providers. I was also the team lead for the special education team in my second year, putting me in a decision-maker and facilitator role. This helped me sharpen many skills I use today to run my business and collaborate with passionate people. I care most about integrity, compassion, and impact.
