Her Story

About Amy

Amy Carrio has been in the tech industry since 2011, working across several different companies throughout her career. She currently serves as Senior Director of Global Sales Development at Nuvolo, a position she has held since 2024. Previously, she worked at Oracle where she won numerous awards, including a Leadership All-Stars award in 2024 that recognized her dedication to the growth and development of her team and getting them promoted into their next roles. Her areas of expertise include go-to-market strategy, coaching and developing talent, and pipeline discipline. Amy's journey in tech has been shaped by being one of the few women in male-dominated spaces - from being the only female on an all-male soccer team growing up to being the first and only female on her first tech sales team. This experience has fueled her passion for mentoring women and championing equity in leadership, and she actively works to find ways to bring more women into tech sales. She is a member of Women in Sales Group and Women in Technology's Nashville chapter, and previously served as a military spouse mentor through Oracle's Maven Military Spouse Mentorship Program.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amy

01What do you attribute your success to?

Growing up, I saw my mom be a director at a school program and the head of the household, but also still driving me from gymnastics to soccer and all of the above. She was a big influence on my life. Then growing up, I was the only female on an all-male soccer team because we didn't have a girls' soccer team. And then my first role in tech sales, I was the first and only female on the sales team. So just kind of always being told that women weren't able to break into that just yet, or I was like, well, I'm going to prove you wrong. That experience has driven me to mentor women and champion equity in leadership, and to find ways to bring more women into tech sales.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To never give up. The amount of women there is in leadership is far from none. It's so few amount, but it is absolutely needed. There's a lot of different aspects about being a woman that makes them successful in tech sales and tech leadership, especially when it comes to empathy and multitasking and just really being adaptable and resilient. I always try and encourage any of my female reps to keep pushing.
