Her Story
About Ananya
I've always been kind of interested in money management and personal finances as a child, so that was just something I wanted to further in a career and kind of see how that would work in a different company. I've had some experience working at startups, looking at the financial side, banks and things, and kind of ended up in more of a corporate finance role. What kind of interested me was how does this work on a larger scale - not just for me or my family, but kind of picturing it from a bigger corporation. That's always been something that has been my interest that I just kind of wanted to look into and kind of got me to where I am right now. I'm currently working in finance at eBay in the rotational program, where I've done rotations in Treasury cash management, accounting systems, and FP&A. I think I want to look into the FP&A side of things a little bit more in depth, so looking to gain more exposure in that and broaden my horizons.

Ten minutes with Ananya
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think, kind of growing up, my parents have always pushed me to not just get good grades and have high hopes for myself, but also make sure that I'm doing something that's interesting, and also give a good amount of my time to my hobbies and personal interests as well. I think kind of having that being pushed on me from a child has been really nice for me to grow up in an environment where I can prioritize different aspects and not just get sucked into the weeds of finance or other things like that, to make sure that I have a balanced life in the various things that I'm working on, and not get too overwhelmed in that. So I think that's something that I've been doing here, working my full-time job, and also when I was back as a student in college, working internships, and also pursuing personal hobbies and skills as well.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think if I go back a few years and put myself in that step's shoes again, I think one of the biggest things I would tell myself is to just be more curious and ask a lot more questions on the why we're doing various different things. I think that helps me better understand the bigger picture of how that works at a big company or whatever company you're working at, the various different tasks that may not seem that far-reaching when you're doing it, but kind of looking at where does this fit in to finance at this company, and how does that help the overall company every year, or what difference that actually makes. I think it's provided me with a lot of clarity, so I think that would be one advice I would give to someone.
