Her Story
About Andrea
I've been with AT&T for 20 years, starting in what was telecommunications and is now the technology field. I moved into my current role as Federal Financial Analyst in 2011, where I've been for 14 years handling the financials for federal government accounts. What led me to this path was obviously the money - I wanted to do something better for my family. I have 3 daughters, so I wanted to do something better for my family. My role has changed over the years, particularly when I went over to accounts receivable. I just recently finished my master's degree from Tribeca University and will be receiving an honorary doctorate next month in business administration. With AI changing everything and my position being eliminated, I'm preparing myself for what's next. I'm looking into pursuing my doctoral degree as well, though it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my mother, watching her navigate through things that other people would have given up on. You see people commit suicide, you see many people give up, walk away from their children, and even with some of the life's challenges that were thrown at her, she never gave up, and she never gives up on us. I went through something in 2024, and I felt like I had no one, but the way that she came - she could feel my pain. She came and she was very supportive and everything, even tried to be financially supportive, even though she didn't have it. That's the one thing about my mom, no matter what she's went through or goes through, she still is there for her kids no matter what. That's why I'm strong, and I don't give up.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Make sure it's something that you're doing something that you love. Just know that there are gonna be challenges. The main focus is to always keep God first and let him direct your path. If you just stop at a high school diploma, that's not enough nowadays, especially being a woman, because it's a very competitive job market.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The challenge is artificial intelligence taking over. The advantages is just having the educational background so you can fight against some of the challenges, because if you just stop at a high school diploma, that's not enough nowadays, especially being a woman, because it's a very competitive job market.
